As your breast augmentation draws nearer, it’s perfectly normal to feel both excited and a little anxious. One great way to help calm your nerves and ensure that your breast enhancement goes smoothly and seamlessly is to prepare for recovery ahead of time.
Not sure what to do before breast augmentation? These tips are a helpful place to start.
-
Stop Taking Blood-Thinning Supplements and Medications
Dr. Mariotti will provide you with detailed guidelines to help you prepare for your upcoming breast augmentation. Included in those instructions is a list of common supplements and medications that are known to thin your blood, which you’ll need to avoid taking several days before your procedure.
A few of these include:
- NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Naproxen, aspirin, etc…)
- John’s wort, Ginger or Ginko Biloba
- Omega-3s, fish oils or Green tea
- Blood-thinning medications (warfarin, coumadin, Xarelto)
-
Prepare a Cozy Recovery Space
Take some time prior to your breast enhancement procedure to prepare a comfortable recovery space that will be all ready for you when you get home. Choose a quiet, relaxing space in your house and stock it with necessities like tissues, lip balm, pillows and blankets.
You might also want to have a few ice packs handy to help keep you comfortable in the first few days of breast enhancement recovery while swelling and bruising diminish.
Most women are able to return to work and normal daily activities in about 5 to 7 days after getting breast implants.
-
Arrange for Child and Pet Care
If you have young children and or pets in your care, arrange for a responsible adult to help care for them both on the day of your breast augmentation and for a day or two afterward as you recover.
