Local Activities

Our practice is conveniently located near several points of interest. If you find yourself with some extra time prior to surgery, you may want to take advantage of some of these local activities. Walnut Creek is the closest large downtown, with many restaurants and leading retailers at the popular shopping destination, Broadway Plaza. There are also multiple movie theaters, a water park, and a theme park all within a 10-mile radius of our practice. Should you choose to explore further, you have San Francisco, Marin County, and the Napa Valley, all within an hour’s drive.

Post-Op Care

Post-operatively, be sure you have a qualified and competent caretaker for at least the first 12 to 24 hours. This individual need not be a professional, but they should be an adult who is able to drive and can assist you with some physical activities like standing or walking to the bathroom. It is also best that the individual you choose be a supportive person and someone you trust and are comfortable with.

Although we recommend traveling with a family member or friend who can help you in the first few days after surgery, professional services are available if you’re traveling on your own. We work with several local nursing services that can help care for you and even pick you up from the surgery center. For those who require lodging, we suggest the Summerfield Suites or the Residence Inn as they offer accommodations with separate sleeping quarters for a patient and caregiver. You will want to ensure that you can rest comfortably and with minimal interruptions.

We want your surgery and recovery experience to be as pleasant as possible. Some items we suggest you stock up on include juice, water, ice packs, and light snacks to use post-operatively in your chosen recovery location. Favorite movies, magazines, music, and books are all helpful as well.
