PATIENT BACKGROUND: 20+ years ago this delightful woman underwent a bilateral breast augmentation with another physician. Over the years, however, she felt that her breasts may have encapsulated and drooped over time. She is 46 years old, is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 139 pounds and currently is a large B cup. She is here to see Dr. Mariotti for a Breast Augmentation Revision consultation. At this point she would not imagine going without a bra and is very self-conscious about her breast. Her wish is to have slightly larger and perkier more symmetric breasts.
DR. MARIOTTI’S IMPRESSION: A focused examination of the breast and I discovered the implants are not encapsulated, rather, they appear to be completely sub muscular. Even with minimal flexion, her implants go upwards quite a bit. First I recommend that her implants be replaced. Since they are 23 years old, there is a possibility that they are already ruptured. To give her the look she desires, I also suggested they are replaced with the new silicone implants (vs. saline) and perform a breast lift, otherwise known as a mastopexy, to get rid of some of the extra skin and looseness of her breasts.
FOLLOW UP/OUTCOME: 2 weeks and 2 post op appointments later and her early results look fantastic. The implant pockets are nice and soft and the shape of her breasts look great. 2 months post surgery is when these after photos were taken. She is super happy with her results and she looks sensational.
