PATIENT BACKGROUND: This engaging woman in her late 40’s is her to see Dr. Mariotti to discuss a Tummy Tuck Revision. About 10 years ago she had a tummy tuck with a surgeon another surgeon in another state. Unfortunately, her postoperative course was complicated by wound healing problems. She is quite self-conscious about the subsequent scaring and is hoping to have her lower abdominal scar repaired.
DR. MARIOTTI’s IMPRESSION: Given the size of the indentation of the scar on her abdomen, her fix it is not straightforward. I suggested two options. One is to do a scar revision of the lower abdomen. The other option is to completely revise her tummy tuck. After answering all her question regarding both procedures and the likely outcomes, she decided to go for a tummy tuck revision. This will allow me to lift up the skin, just like her original tummy tuck in the first place and pull any excess skin down enough so I can eliminate her indentation completely.
