PATIENT BACKGROUND: This energetic woman is seeking a medically necessary Breast Reduction. She is 32 year’s old, 173lbs and 5’7” tall. She’s recently lost 41 lbs through exercising and life style changes. Her current bra size is 34HH and she is looking to go down to a DD (or D) cup size. Due to the weight of her breasts she has developed severe shoulder strap grooving, shoulder and neck pain, as well as upper back pain, headaches and poor posture. She’s had 1 baby and is likely finished with having any more. She has contacted Dr. Mariotti as he will be able to help her reduce all the pain and discomforts that come with overly large breast as well as improve her appearance and mobility.
DR. MARIOTTI’S IMPRESSION: Upon examination, I concluded that from just the size of her breasts alone I would consider her an excellent candidate for Breast Reduction. However, along with just having heavy, uncomfortable breasts she has physical symptoms associated with these. Given the size of her breasts and these symptoms, one can only conclude that continuing to live with these heavy breasts will only turn these symptoms into chronic symptoms and pain. The relief of the weight would be expected to improve the symptoms she noted above almost immediately.
PROCEDURE:
FOLLOW UP/OUTCOME: 5 days after surgery and she couldn’t look better. She has “no issues at all” and her shape and size look dynamite. 1 and ½ months and a couple post op appointments later and she is healing beautifully. The shape and size are perfect. 4 months out when the after photo were taken and she “loves the results” She is also benefitting from the surgery in that she has “much less neck tension” than she did prior to surgery. Not only is that great news but she looks great too!.
