Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures for men. Over time, the skin surrounding our eyes loses its ability to snap back into place, which often leads to sagging eyelids and tired, apathetic appearance. In some severe cases, drooping upper eyelids can even impair your vision. Whether for cosmetic or medical reasons, getting eye lift surgery can help revitalize your appearance and get you back to looking like a younger version of yourself.
Dr. Eric Mariotti is a highly skilled board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in eyelid surgery in Concord, California. Years of experience, combined with extensive medical training and surgical skill, make Dr. Mariotti one of the top plastic surgeons in the East Bay. Through blepharoplasty, Dr. Mariotti has been able to help many men revitalize their appearance and see more clearly.

The Best Candidates
Blepharoplasty can be a suitable option for men who are in good general health but are bothered by drooping eyelids and/or creases in their eye area. Impaired vision caused by sagging upper eyelids can also make you an excellent candidate for this procedure.
If you’re also bothered by crow’s feet or other fine lines and wrinkles near your eyes, between your brows or on your forehead, BOTOX® Cosmetic can make a great pair for your eyelid surgery. In other cases, where lines, wrinkles and sagging skin in your mid- to lower-face areas are also cause for concern, combining blepharoplasty with a facelift could complement your results.
What to Expect
During your eyelid surgery consultation, Dr. Mariotti will carefully listen to your needs and goals before designing a customized treatment plan just for you.
Your blepharoplasty will be performed at our surgery center and typically takes just a few hours for the procedure and initial recovery time. You can plan on returning home the same day of your surgery, after just a short stay in our recovery room.

After Your Eyelid Surgery
After eyelid surgery, you may experience some minor discomfort, swelling and bruising that tend to last for a few days. Most men feel comfortable returning to work within 1 to 2 weeks, although Dr. Mariotti will ask that you avoid vigorous physical activity for 3 weeks after your eye lift. As any residual swelling and bruising subside, you should begin to see your final results taking shape.

Dr. Mariotti takes great care to carefully place blepharoplasty incisions so that resulting scars will be easily hidden within the natural crease of your eye and therefore barely noticeable.
Dr. Mariotti typically removes stitches 5 to 7 days after eyelid surgery.
Although an eye lift can’t stop the natural aging process altogether, making a few lifestyle changes can help you to prolong your smooth, youthful-looking results. Wear sunglasses while driving and spending time outdoors, eat a healthy, balanced diet, don’t smoke and use medical-grade skincare products to help keep your eye area looking and feeling youthful and energized, no matter your age.
