PATIENT BACKGROUND: This yummy mummy is 36 years old and has two lovely children. She was recommended by one of Dr. Mariotti’s patients and MPSA member that herself achieved amazing Mommy Makeover results. Not unlike many mothers, following her pregnancies she has developed deflation of her breasts, as well as loose skin of the abdomen. She is hoping to achieve some of the figure that she had prior to her pregnancies. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She is currently a C-cup and wishes to go up a size to a D or possibly DD cup, while avoiding any overdone appearance yet regaining some upper pole volume.
DR. MARIOTTI’S IMPRESSION: This beautiful mother is an excellent candidate for breast and body contouring surgery/Mommy Makeover. First, we talked about her abdomen. A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, would allow me to remove all the skin between the pubic hairline and the belly button. This along with tightening of the abdominal muscles, which have been stretched with pregnancy and pulling the upper abdominal skin down tight will give her a nice, flat tummy.
Next, we talked about her breasts. An augmentation alone, in her case, would give her poor results. Rather, I have recommended a breast lift in addition to an augmentation. The lift is what would give her tighter, perkier breasts, while the implants are what would give her the upper pole fullness and increase in volume. We talked about the differences between saline and silicone gel implants and decided on silicone. I have also recommended that the implants be place under the muscle. Doing so reduces the chances of tight scar tissue forming around the implants and it gives a better contour to the upper portion of the breasts. The breast lift would then tighten up the skin of the breasts and raise the nipple-areolar complexes to a more appropriate position. (see the breast augmentation with lift here).
FOLLOW UP/OUTCOME: 4 days after her Mommy Makeover and she is doing exceptionally well. She is standing nearly straight up without a problem! She informed Dr. Mariotti that she hasn’t needed any pain medication in the past couple days and is feeling good. 3 months post op and She looks absolutely fantastic. All of her incisions are healed nicely. Her breasts are soft and they are sitting in a great position. 1 year on during a followup she states that it has been a “ life changer.” Amazing. Don’t you want to look this good too?
