During Surgery
This surgery is performed under general anesthesia with the assistance of a board certified anesthesiologist, who remains on hand for the duration of the procedure. Dr. Mariotti believes that this approach offers the highest level of safety and comfort for his patients. There are several techniques used during a face lift procedure but, in almost all cases, the sagging neck muscles are tightened, the jowls are lifted and cheek fat is restored to its original position. After this, the skin is conservatively and strategically tightened to produce a more youthful appearance while being mindful of minimizing any outward appearance of surgery. On occasion, liposuction can be used to better contour the chin and neck. For your comfort and safety, Dr. Mariotti recommends staying one night at Premier Surgery Center, where a dedicated nurse will care for your every need.
Showing Off Your New Look
The morning after your surgery, Dr Mariotti will stop by the surgery center to see how you are doing. Upon his recommendation, you will be sent home with some light dressings, which will be removed in 48 to 72 hours. Most of the sutures Dr. Mariotti uses are dissolvable, which means that very few will need to be removed. You should expect some bruising and swelling but these generally subside within the first week. Although your results will continue to improve over the course of the next several weeks, you will be able to see and show off your transformation in just 10 to 14 days.
