Ear Surgery

Ear Surgery Stock ImageAdult candidates for ear surgery have often spent their lives feeling self-conscious about their appearance, often trying to find ways to camouflage their ears and avoiding short or pulled-back hairstyles. In the Danville and Walnut Creek areas, ear surgery, or otoplasty, performed by Dr. Eric Mariotti can free you from that self-consciousness, helping you look and feel your best.

Dr. Mariotti is a board-certified plastic surgeon serving the East Bay. If you'd like to make an appointment, simply request a consultation online or call his office at 925-685-4533.

How Is Otoplasty Performed?

Ear Pinning IllustrationFor patients with protruding ears in San Ramon, Danville, and Walnut Creek, otoplasty usually involves an elliptical-shaped incision in the cartilage behind the ear. After making this incision, Dr. Mariotti will shave, flatten, fold, or otherwise manipulate the cartilage to achieve a new shape and correct the position of the external ear. Fine sutures are placed to hold the ears' new position during healing. Compressive dressings are then applied to protect the surgical site and help hold the ears' new shape during recovery. Scar lines are located behind the ear and are not visible after recovery.
