The specialty of plastic surgery, however, was not something he’d considered until a friend in medical school convinced him to take an elective in reconstructive surgery. After day 3, he says, he was in love. “I remember coming home after the first week and telling my wife ‘I have found my calling.’” From there, he focused all his efforts on getting himself the best training possible and working towards building his practice. Today, Dr. Mariotti runs a well-respected and established aesthetic and reconstructive practice with a carefully selected staff of professionals who thoroughly enjoy what they do. “If my employees are truly happy,” he says, “then that extends to our patients. We get to know our patients very well and they often come to feel like an extended family.” You will find Dr. Mariotti genuine, easy-going, approachable and down-to-earth. He spent most of his childhood in neighboring Pinole. He enjoys skiing and swimming, pastimes he shares with his wife and three boys. And, in the summertime, he loves to work on cultivating as many heirloom tomato plants as possible. Travel is another passion. As a child, Dr. Mariotti built fond memories traveling by bicycle with his father to many different parts of the world—Africa, China and South America among them—and hopes to carry on that adventure when his boys are older.
In the meantime, he is gratified by his chosen field of medicine, which allows him to combine science, surgical technique and a dash of artistry to care for patients young and old, from head to toe, making people feel good about themselves. He knows he is doing his job well when a patient tells him they love how he has made them look. More importantly, when they say how wonderful they feel about themselves after surgery, “that is the highest compliment.” |
