Do you you wish your breasts were more “perky”? For some woman, it is not easy to face droopy breasts that were once round and perky. Age, pregnancy, weight loss or gain, and genetics all contribute to changes in the breast. For some women, wearing a support bra is a necessity to maintain a more normal appearance. Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, returns breast to a more youthful shape and position. During a mastopexy, the breast tissue is tightened and sagging breast skin is reduced. The size of the areola is often reduced to give the breasts a more youthful appearance. The result is perky breast even without the constant support of a bra. A breast lift does not change the amount of breast tissue a woman has, but does change the shape, which can affect your overall breast size. If size, or a fuller upper portion of the breast is important to you, an implant can be inserted during your breast lift to enhance the size or firmness.
How long does the surgery last?
A breast lift alone will typically take 2 hours. If implants are desired for more upper breast fullness, the surgery typically lasts between 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and is performed at Premier Surgery Center. For most patients, general anesthesia is used and you are discharged from the recovery room after about an hour or two of observation.
After the surgery…
After the procedure, you go home in a light dressing that covers the incisions. You are able to shower the next morning. Although implants which are placed below the muscle do feel sore, it is easily controlled with oral pain medication.
Showing off your new look…
Unlike an augmentation alone, a breast lift, or lift with implants will take 3 – 4 weeks to settle into their eventual shape. You can expect to be up and around the house the next day, light activity in 3-5 days and back at a desk job with no lifting in 1 week, or a more active job in 2 weeks. When you show off your new, fuller figure is up to you! |
