A great body can not always be achieved through diet and fitness alone. Sometimes those annoying bulges can become a big source of frustration, hinder in clothing option and fashion choices. But all hope is not lost. What ever you call it; lipoplasty, suction lipectomy or liposculpting, body sculpting is safer and more effective than ever because of the advances in both technology and technique during the past decade. For certain cases Dr. Mariotti uses Liposelection by VASER, a technique where an ultrasound probe is first inserted to “melt” the fat before it is removed.
Indications.
You've dieted and exercised and still can't get rid of those pockets of fat. The problem areas for women are usually the thights, abdomen, hips, buttocks, knees, arms, chin, cheeks, neck and for men; they are most often excessive breast tissue and the area known as "love handles."
How long does the surgery last?
Typically, the surgery itself takes about 1 to 2 hours. However, time is extremely variable depending on the area(s) treated. Again, depending on your situation, either local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia is used. After a relatively brief stay in the recovery room you are discharged home with your ride.
After the surgery
After the procedure, you go home with a compressive garment which reduced postoperative swelling. After 2-3 weeks Dr. Mariotti has you begin wearing lycra or spandex to get a better long term result. Although there is some usual, minimal and expected discomfort, it is easily controlled with oral pain medication which Dr. Mariotti will have you fill prior to the procedure.
Showing off you new look
The healing process differs from patient to patient, but you can expect to be up and around the house in 1-2 days and ready to resume normal activities in 7 to 10 days. It takes about four to six weeks for most of the swelling to subside and about three to six months for the swelling to disappear completely, but you ill definitely see improvement very soon after surgery and even more so as the weeks go by. |
